Keep your car out of the hands of auto thieves

Protect yourself, your car and belongings from falling into the hands of auto thieves. It has been reported by the National Insurance Crime Bureau that auto thefts are on the rise and approximately every 44 seconds a vehicle is stolen somewhere in the country. The better prepared you are and the more diligent you are about protecting your car, the less of a chance you have of falling victim to this type of crime.

Here are some tips to keep your car safe:

  • Always keep your car locked and windows rolled up when you are not in it.
  • Never leave your keys in the car and always know where they are.
  • Do not leave valuable items in the car and if you have to, keep them out of sight.
  • Park in a supervised parking lot with an attendant on duty.
  • Equip your car with the proper security systems, including warning, immobilizing and tracking devices.

In addition to protecting your car, maintain adequate car insurance for the vehicle. This will help better protect you should your car be stolen.
